RentRealm doesn't connect to AppFolio directly. It imports your AppFolio listings through a listing feed: an XML file, at its own web address, that lists your vacancies for listing sites. RentRealm reads feeds in MITS format and in Zillow format.
Good to know: the import reads the layout of AppFolio's published sample feeds, but we haven't yet imported a real customer's AppFolio feed. If something in yours doesn't come over, call us at (701) 404-7858.
Step 1: Find your feed's address
You need the address of the feed itself, not of a web page. If you don't have it, ask AppFolio support for your account's MITS listing feed URL.
Your vacancy page or an AppFolio listings page won't work: RentRealm tells you when an address is a web page rather than a feed.
Step 2: Save it in RentRealm
- Open Listings. If you're still in the setup wizard, use its listings step instead.
- Under Listing feed, paste the address into Listing feed URL and select Save feed.
- RentRealm downloads the feed once to check it. A MITS feed is confirmed with Saved as a MITS feed and its address.
Step 3: Import your listings
Select Sync now. Your listed units import with their photos. After that, RentRealm checks the feed for changes about every 10 minutes, and Listings shows when it last ran and what changed.
What comes over
The address, rent, available date, bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage, description, photos, amenities, pet policy, security deposit, and the application, admin and broker fees the feed lists. A fee without a flat amount is shown without one and left out of the total price.
Descriptions the Fair Housing check flags are held back. Listings shows which ones, and you can write your own in their place.
Common questions
Do changes in AppFolio show on my site? When the feed changes, your site follows after RentRealm checks it again.
What happens when a home is leased? When a home leaves the feed, its page stays at the same address for at least a year and points renters to similar homes.
Is there a direct AppFolio connection? No. A direct connection is planned, and we haven't chosen how it will work.
